Authorship, Editorial, and Publication Policies and Guidelines

Explore the Madain Project's comprehensive authorship, editorial, and publication policies and guidelines. This document outlines the collaborative editorial process, standards for content accuracy, and the commitment to transparency and quality, ensuring a well-structured approach to scholarly publishing.
  • Our Committment
At the Madain Project, we are committed to ensuring that all articles published on our platform meet the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and depth. Given the encyclopaedic nature of our articles, each one is thoroughly researched and reviewed through an extensive editorial process before it is made publicly available. Our goal is to present well-rounded, meticulously vetted content that offers readers valuable insights into the topics covered.

  • Authorship and Attribution Policy
Currently, individual authorship is not attributed to any article on the Madain Project Archive. This is in line with our editorial policy, which emphasizes the collaborative nature of content creation. Given the encyclopaedic structure of our articles, many are initiated by a single author but are subsequently expanded, revised, and refined by our editorial team to ensure the highest quality. As a result, the final content reflects the contributions of multiple editors and experts.
However, for certain articles where individual authorship is significant, such as research-driven content, we provide a flexible attribution format. In such cases, authorship can be acknowledged as: [Lead Author's Name], et al., with contributions from the editorial team. This ensures that both the lead author’s work and the contributions of the editors are appropriately recognized. The lead author's name can be requested via email.

  • Collaborative Editorial Process
Each article is developed by a collaborative team of at least two editors. These editors include subject matter experts, experienced professionals, or passionate enthusiasts who bring their academic credentials or hands-on experience to the table. The editorial process involves multiple stages: from initial drafting and writing to thorough review and revisions. This collaborative approach, suited to the encyclopaedic scope of our content, allows for multiple perspectives, contributing to more comprehensive, clear, and balanced information.

  • Commitment to Transparency
Our editorial process is built on transparency, clarity, and continuous improvement. Although individual contributions are not currently credited, this is a transitional phase. We are actively working on developing a formal system to properly attribute articles to individual contributors, including editors, researchers, and other team members. This system will allow us to credit specific individuals while still reflecting the collective nature of the work, which is in line with the encyclopaedic scope of our content.

  • Review and Quality Control
Before an article is published, it undergoes a detailed review process that includes checks for factual accuracy, clarity, transparency, and adherence to the Madain Project’s specific structural guidelines. Each article is subject to multiple rounds of review to ensure it meets our standards for quality, integrity, and reader value. Editors focus on expanding and refining the content, correcting any inaccuracies, and enhancing readability. This process is especially important given the comprehensive, encyclopaedic nature of our work.

  • Future Directions
As we evolve, we are implementing new methods for recognizing the contributions of individual editors and authors. Our goal is to create a formal authorship attribution system that balances the collective nature of our editorial process with proper recognition for individual contributions. This system will also allow us to reflect the unique role that editors, subject matter experts, and other members of the Madain Project community play in producing high-quality, encyclopaedic content. In the near future, articles will be credited with individual authorship where applicable, alongside editorial contributions. This will enhance the transparency of our editorial process while maintaining the collaborative ethos and encyclopaedic depth that defines the Madain Project.
