The Badjanani Mosque or Ancienne Mosquée de Vendredi (old Friday mosque), the oldest mosque in the Medina, is the central and most notable mosque in the city of Moroni, Comoros. Located near the port in Medina, the historic town center, it serves as an important religious object to the people of the Comoros Islands due to its age and largeness.

Overview

circa 1427 CE

Located on the harbor at the edge of the old stone medina, the mosque was constructed in 1427/831 AH. The minaret was added in 921 CE / 1339 Hj.
